NOT Black Friday but Week! Our favourite small Champagne growers

It’s the end of the month, it’s pay day and it’s time for the Black Friday Sales.

This year we wanted to do things a bit differently. Rather than put big discounts on old stock items and things you don’t need we decided this is the perfect year to show support for some of our small artisanal producers.

We’re taking the opportunity to shine a spotlight on our favourite small Champagne growers after we were inspired by a recent trip to the region. In terms of quality, we believe these represent much better value for money. They also produce a more individual and unique representation of the region. This year has been tough for growers in Champagne. They’ve had terrible and unpredictable weather conditions and lost a lot of fruit. Most estimate only having 40% of the normal quantities of grapes. Despite this the quality of the Champagne they have produced is exquisite.

Black Friday at Bottles N Jars is different, its not Black ‘Friday’ but ‘Week! Where instead of condensing our offers into one day, we have extended it for a whole week from Tuesday 23rd to Tuesday 30th November

We don’t want to devalue any of these amazing wines as we know how much hard work goes into them. If you did need any extra encouraging - we are offering free delivery across the UK and we'll pop in our favourite cult Torres Truffle Crisps + the very moreish Truffle & Pecorino nut mix, a truly sensational pairing

The Beautiful Champagne Growers We Recommend

Charles Hiedsieck - The smallest Grande Marque (‘Great Brand’) Champagne House. Based in the Montagne de Reims, a high quality champagne that rivals the best names. Hiedsieck has won sparkling Winemaker of the Year’ at the International Wine Challenge a record sixteen times. No other sparkling wine maker has won more than twice.

Baron AlbertThird generation of family winemakers, the have a reputation for overdelivering on quality and expectations in Champagne. The current generation is three sisters who work together to keep the quality and reputation of the estate high. Pretty much our house Champagne at Bottles ‘n’ Jars, our go to fizz when we’re celebrating. Grapes are selected from seven different vineyards in Vallee De La Marne. It’s a classic blend of Pinot Meunier (65%) with 30% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Noir. The wine is aged for four years in the family cellar which gives the wine wonderful feel and complexity.

Oliver Horiot - The Horiot wines have a dedicated cult following in the wine world and the wines are hard to come across, we're delighted that have a small amount to offer.  Based in the Aube sub region of Champagne (a region famous for growing red varieties) they show what they can do with their 7 ha of Pinot Noir, Meunier, Blanc and Meslier. They had land in this area since the 1600s and it shows. The wines are expressive, pure and have a great sense of place. This is a must for champagne lovers who prefer the blanc de noir style.

Egly-OurietA fourth generation winemaking family, they’re real heavy hitters. Known throughout the wine world and loved by wine geeks and enthusiast alike. Francis Ouriet has access to some of the best vineyards in Champagne, he has premier cru & grand cru vineyards that he makes exceptional wines from. Based in Ambonnay the single vineyard Pinot Noir is one of the best we’ve ever tasted.

Larmandier-Bernier – Since their beginnings, Larmandier-Bernier have always focused on sustainability, organics and being as low intervention in the winemaking process as possible. This winery has a good following in the natural wine world and is also loved by classic wine collectors too. The purity and precision in the wines is some of the best.
